Resident Evil Village : Chris Redfield Returns for the Series’ Next-Gen Premiere

As we rumored a few months ago, Resident Evil 8 is sub-titled “Village” and will have players resume the role of Ethan in a this upcoming next-gen horror. Here’s what we know so far about the game that will release for the Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and PC in 2021.

A few years post-Resident Evil 7, Ethan and Mia are living together in a new location free of the terror they once faced. That is, until tragedy befalls them once again. Chris Redfield, the classic Resident Evil character who made a short appearance at the end of RE7, is reacquainted with the couple and horribly disrupts their life, leaving Ethan devastated and thrown into an entirely new nightmare.

The first-person action in Resident Evil Village begins when players assume the role of a distraught and shattered Ethan as he seeks to uncover the mysterious new horrors that plague a once peaceful village. Throughout this terrifying journey, players will fight for every breath as they are hunted by vicious new enemies that have infested the snow-capped locale. Channeling the capabilities of next generation consoles, the detailed realism and relentless feeling of fear will increase with each desperate battle for survival, while moments of calm will leave players wondering what new horrors await.

Our Take

We were big fans of Resident Evil 7 and how it offered something new for long-time RE fans while paying homage to classic tropes. Village looks to combine the best of RE7 with RE4 and we couldn’t be more excited. Knowing that this will be a premier horror experience on next-gen platforms jumps this to one of our most anticipated titles!
