If reports are true, Sega is preparing a major announcement for next week via famous Japanese publication Gematsu.
Next week marks the 60th anniversary of Sega and according to tech journalist Zenji Nishikawa, the company is preparing an announcement “on the scale of the PlayStation 5 announcement in Wired“.
Of course, we highly doubt this is new hardware related. However, it could be a major franchise returning, a new game service featuring Sega’s catalog, or possibly a mini-Dreamcast or Saturn console given that those are quite popular at the moment. There have also been rumors of some type of partnership with Xbox, though we could not find any information from reliable sources on that one.
Our Take
Being gamers from the Atari days on up, Sega holds a special place in our hearts. With an amazing history and a rich catalog of games, Sega has a lot of possibilities to surprise and delight fans. Let’s hope they have some something impressive in store.
