FINAL UPDATE (May 1st): In doing further digging it seems that the LinkedIn profile is indeed fake as we could find no record of an Edgar Newman on the projects below. We apologize for the misinformation and will be sure to be more diligent in our research before posting notable position moves in the future.
UPDATE (April 30th): A representative from Naughty Dog contacted Seasoned Gaming to inform us that no “Edgar Newman” has ever worked for them nor been associated with The Last of Us 2. We’ve reached out to the other companies involved for clarification and to confirm if this is legitimate. We will update you further should we hear more.
Original Article: We’ve written a few times about the number of senior development talent flooding into Xbox Game Studios. It seems as though we can add another to the list.
Edgar Newman, a former Senior Game Designer at Naughty Dog and Massive Entertainment whose resume includes titles such as The Last of Us 2 and The Division, has joined Double Fine Productions to “Work on an unannounced AAA title” for Xbox.
Our Take
This is particularly interesting as Double Fine Productions is typically known for smaller titles. While Psychonauts 2 is one of our most anticipated games of the year, it would be great to see the talent and creativity of Double Fine expand to larger titles. It looks like even more good things are on the horizon!
