Resident Evil 4 Remake in Development, Targeting a 2022 Release

With Capcom seeing such huge success with the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, it should come as no surprise that according to multiple development sources, the company has green-lit development of a remake of Resident Evil 4.

Development of the title is being lead by M-Two, the new studio that is headed by former Platinum Games head Tatsuya Minami. According to the report, preparation for the project has been on-going since sometime in 2018 with a goal of releasing in 2022. This seems to tie in well with the rumored release of Resident Evil 8 in early 2021.

Resident Evil 4 is widely regarded as the not only the best Resident Evil title in the series, but also one of the most influential titles from the 2000s.

Our Take

While we often speak out about companies focusing on nothing but remakes, given the quality of the Resident Evil remakes to date and the love for Resident Evil 4, this really isn’t a big surprise. We have to admit, dreaming of a proper Resident Evil 4 remake on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X certainly has us excited.
