Most well-known for deep RPGs such as last year’s hit The Outer Worlds, Obsidian Entertainment recently debuted a project titled Grounded. Grounded is being made by a small team within the Xbox Game Studio and immediately was compared to the classic “Honey I Shrunk the Kids” given the premise.
In Grounded, you have been shrunk to the size of an ant and are tasked with exploring, building, and of course surviving. The game can be played solo or in co-op and will be shown at PAX East next week while also being available in early access to Xbox Insiders “very soon” according to Obsidian.
The world is a vast, beautiful and dangerous place – especially when you have been shrunk to the size of an ant. Explore, build and survive together in this first person, multiplayer, survival-adventure. Can you thrive alongside the hordes of giant insects, fighting to survive the perils of the backyard?
So far, here’s the details on what will be available to players in early access according to the Steam listing for the title:
- Approximately 20% of the full game
- Single and online co-op play
- Crafting and base building
- Three play areas : The Haze, The Hedge, and The Grasslands
- Starting weapons and armor
- “At least” ten insects (no full game total was shared)
- Arachnophobia mode (no full description)
Obsidian is an incredibly talented studio so we have full faith this is going to be a load of fun to play. And we always like it when a studio tries something new with a title so we’re especially anxious to see more of the attributes of Grounded. Bring on early access and stay tuned for more coverage!
