The Embracer Group, parent company of THQ Nordic, announced today they have finalized a deal to acquire Saber Interactive (World War Z, Ghostbusters : The Video Game Remastered).
The deal calls out an initial spend of $150 million with developmental incentives worth up to $375 million. Despite the acquisition, Saber will remain a standalone company under the Embracer banner.
Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors had the following to say on the acquisition:
Saber has been on our radar for a very long time because of their deep history of consistently high-quality work. Their ambitious moves towards self-funding projects in recent years have been particularly impressive, especially with World War Z, which sold more than three million units.

The videogame industry is starting to look a lot different lately with many smaller studios (and even major ones) being consolidated under larger parent companies. With Google, Xbox, and PlayStation continuing to discuss expansion, further acquisitions are inevitable. Who will be next?
