(Corrected) Nintendo will be in Attendance at E3

UPDATE 2: The ESA has offered a statement regarding attendees at E3 2020 which includes Nintendo (and Xbox for that matter). This is reassuring to see and we’re now curious what is meant by Xbox as Xbox hasn’t been on the E3 show floor for a couple of years now. You can find the full statement below, and as always we’ll continue to keep you updated.

UPDATE: We’ve been informed that Doug Bowser, President of Nintendo of America, had previously confirmed Nintendo’s involvement in E3 2020. Via this article from Hollywood Reporter, Bowser has the following to say:

“We look forward to participating in E3 2020. It is one of many ideal venues for us this year to interact with people in a social and immersive environment,” Bowser tells THR in an emailed statement. “Every year, we base our approach to E3 on the content we have to share.”

We will continue to monitor for any official word from Nintendo and will update this information accordingly!

Original Article: The first official list of exhibitors has been released by the ESA for E3 2020 and while many of the names are expected, there is one major company that’s currently not on the list in Nintendo.

Now while the list is not final and this is not confirmation of anything just yet, it’s worth nothing that Nintendo is traditionally on the exhibitor list from the start and has been a staple at E3 for many years (despite not holding an official press conference for the past few years).

The full E3 site can be found here along with the participating companies list for reference.

Our Take

This could be major news and a huge blow to the ESA should Nintendo follow Sony’s lead and bow out of E3 attendance. With Microsoft already holding their own event next door, it would essentially turn E3 into a third-party exhibition only and given the space that Sony and Nintendo used to occupy, it would be near impossible to fill. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
