Prepare for the Monster Hunter World PlayStation 4 Beta

The Monster Hunter World Beta is nearly here and Capcom has provided all of the details for those looking to get involved this weekend.

World1

It opens at 12pm EST / 9am PST this Saturday and will run until Tuesday at the same time. You will need just over 5gb of free space for the download and you must be a PlayStation Plus subscriber to join.

The hunts included in the beta are as follows:

  • “Great Devourer, Great Jagras” takes place in the Ancient Forest, with the Great Jagras as your target.
  • “The Ancient Forest Menace” also takes place in the Ancient Forest, but this time you will be hunting an Anjanath.
  • “Wildspire Rampage” occurs in the Wildspire Waste, with all eyes on a Barroth.

You will be able to run the hunts solo or in a party of up to 4 players. Worldwide matchmaking will be enabled with a language filter so you can find other players to team up with. You will need to be online at all times when playing, even if running solo.

You will have the option of choosing from six different male and female preset characters along with six Palico presets and there is a training area so you can experiment ahead of time.

Finally, if you complete any of the three hunts, you’ll be rewarded with a face paint which will carry over to the full release. You’ll also receive an item set for each hunt you complete which will also carry over.

Our Take

Fans have been waiting a long time to have a proper, fully featured Monster Hunter game to come to home consoles and well, we’re pretty excited about it too. We’ll certainly be jumping into the beta this weekend and hope to hear how your experience was as well. See you online!
