Cyberpunk 2077 Will Include Online Elements According to CD Projekt Red

During a conversation with a Polish investment site (Strefa Inwestorow), CDPR CEO Adam Kicinski made the following statement (translated from Polish):

We want to experiment in new fields that were not yet explored in the Witcher. I can’t say much about Cyberpunk, though our ambitions are set really high because that is our style of work. We want to go even higher, and especially seeing how we’re having a business chat, we’re interested in Cyberpunk being commercially even more significant.

When asked about the possibility of multiplayer appearing in Cyberpunk 2077, Kicinski then replies:

Online is necessary, or very recommended if you wish to achieve long term success. At some point, we have mentioned that there will be a certain online element related to Cyberpunk.

Our Take

Our love for The Witcher 3 and CDPR is no secret and Cyberpunk 2077 is one of our most anticipated titles. While these statements don’t surprise us, they do cause a small amount of concern. Hopefully, CDPR recognizes that Witcher 3 is held up so high due to the world and character designs along with the tremendous value the game offered including the expansions. As long as the online component doesn’t negatively affect the core game, and microtransactions aren’t added unnecessarily, we’re sure it will still be a classic.
