The Battle Royale mode has already become a hit within Fortnite and it seems the first expansion will be arriving on September 26th just when the mode goes free to play for everyone. Epic Games posted an update this morning on what we can all expect including:
- Squads (including 2 and 4 player support) with DBNO functionality.
- New weapons including a scoped assault rifle and tactial SMG.
- HUD updates.
- Supply drops and cosmetic items (coming shortly after this update).

Our Take
Battle Royale has a ton of potential and given that PUBG is PC only for the time being, and has no expectation at this point for a PS4 release, there’s a lot of room for it to grow in the console space particularly. We’ll certainly be watching to see how it evolves.
