Need for Speed Payback: Announcement Trailer and Info

We finally got to see the first trailer for EA’s new Need for Speed title. While we knew a new game was on the way, it’s been kept under secret pretty well. From the start of the trailer we got a first look of the story. Fast and Furious vibes were seen in a number of areas with the narrative, but the title really plays into the trailer where the main character is wronged and will now seek “Payback”. Gone are the live action scenes from previous NFS titles. All scenes will be rendered with the Frostbite Engine.

The main city is called Silver Rock and it’s an area called Fortune Valley. There is a number of different terrains seen from the trailer. Types of cars will be in the form of race, drift, off-road, and runner. Customization is present as ever with various cars being modified for all terrains. Throughout the trailer damage and destruction was seen everywhere. Hopefully we’ll be getting a bit of the Burnout series influence with destruction.

The game is being developed by Ghost Games, which is a team of former EA Black Box, Criterion Games and Playground Games staff. Previous games a lot of this new staff has worked on included Project Gotham Racing, Forza Horizon and NFS: The Run. We are hoping that the Need for Speed franchise will return to some of their older games.
