Today Activision and Infinity Ward blew the lid off of COD IW’s multiplayer. We learned:
- The beta will debut on Playstation 4 on October 14th with Xbox One to follow shortly afterwards. There will be no beta for PC.
- Along with a new class system, Infinite Warfare will introduce “Combat Rigs” and “Prototype Weapons”
- All 16 of the COD 4 Modern Warfare maps are being remastered. 10 will be available at launch with the remaining 6 releasing in December for free.
Our Take
After the initial showing of IW which left a lot of fans questioning the direction of COD, it will be interesting to see what people think after today’s reveal. Here at SG, the jury is out until we can get our hands on it. Fortunately with the beta announcement, that time is sooner than we thought. We will say, all of the COD 4 maps being remastered is very good news!
